December 31, 2009 - Bull, Housser & Tupper is pleased to welcome three new partners into the Partnership effective January 1, 2010. Congratulations! Ryan Dalziel joined our Commercial Litigation group after clerking for Justice Rosalie Abella of the Supreme Court of Canada from 2005 to 2006. Called to the bar in 2004, Ryan has argued cases at all levels of court in British Columbia, in the Federal Court and Court of Appeal, and three cases in the Supreme Court of Canada. Ryan is a civil litigator who practices in the areas of constitutional and administrative law, with a particular focus on appeals and judicial reviews of government decision-making. In addition, Ryan acts as counsel in commercial matters, and is of counsel for the Government of British Columbia in its suit against tobacco companies for health care costs. Steven Dvorak is a member of our Commercial Litigation and Insolvency & Restructuring Practice Groups. He was educated at the University of Manitoba, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1986 and his Law Degree in 1989. After articling in Toronto and practicing in Winnipeg, Steven relocated to the Okanagan region of British Columbia in 1994, where he established a reputation as a results-oriented and practical commercial litigator. Steven is a committed community volunteer, having served on the boards of numerous arts organizations. Michael Welters is a member of the Tax Group where his practice encompasses primarily income tax, GST, and provincial sales tax matters, but also employment insurance matters. Michael won two tax awards while attending law school and completed his LL.B. in 2003. He completed his articles at the firm and was called to the bar in 2004. Michael advises clients on the income tax and sales tax implications of complex business transactions, including public share and debt offerings, corporate reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions. |
