Bull,
Housser & Tupper LLP and PST on Legal Services
Updated
May 29, 2007
The Supreme
Court of Canada, in a judgment given on May 25, 2007, determined
that the province had the legal authority to levy social service
tax (PST) on fees for legal services related to the determination
of rights and obligations by courts of law or independent administrative
tribunals, thus overturning a decision of the Court of Appeal of
British Columbia. Bull, Housser & Tupper LLP, therefore, will
continue to collect PST on our bills for legal services as required
by the Social Service Tax Act and will remit all PST collected to
the provincial government. |
